What’s Love Got To Do With It? Everything!
And they lived happily ever after… Isn’t this the best way a love story ends? Or at least how everybody on the planet hopes it ends? For some couples, fairytales can come true, as it is the very recent case of famous and (still wonderful) singer Tina Turner, who finally said “I do” to music producer Erwin Bach, whom she had been with for 27 years. Reuters reported a civil ceremony, while Usmagazine.com covered this story quite extensively since the subject revolves around some interesting numbers: Tina is now 73 years old and has two sons, Craig has 55 years old. In comparison, the younger is 52 years old. Interestingly, the happy groom is just a little bit older than Tina’s firstborn, being 57 years old. While applauding the long-lasting relationship (27 years!), people couldn’t help but notice the significant age gap between the singer and her husband. But who’s counting anyway when all they need is love?
Tina Turner indeed deserves to find peace and happiness, mostly because her relationship with the late Ike Turner kept the papers rolling. The journalists broke their fingers writing about yet another abuse Tina was a victim of during her marriage with Ike, which lasted from 1962 to 1976, enough to keep the headlines and make heavy material for the singer’s 1986 memoirs volume I, Tina. So troubled was the couple’s relationship, so intense and so public that at some point turned into a biographical movie What’s Love Got to Do With It in 1993, starring Angela Basset and Laurence Fishburne.

The silver screen production had quite an impact, as by that time, the public was in love with Tina’s music and extremely sympathetic to her personal story, the movie receiving two Oscar nominations while being rated a 6.9 on the IMDB, which says something good about both leading actors, the director and the story in place. Depending on your charter cable internet choice, you can purchase the movie online in the blink of an eye and at a reasonable price. It has a historical value, especially since it tells the story of a celebrity musician who managed to rise from the ground and start over with flying colors.
Rumors say the newlyweds will celebrate the holy union with a Buddhist ceremony in a very intimate landscape: Tina’s property at Lake Zurich. Becoming a resident of Switzerland apparently comes with some perks, as Tina owns a mansion by the lake, and now she can spend the most beautiful time of her life as a happily married woman. The music scene still regrets her retirement, but it’s been almost four years since she left us, so now we can all get along with our lives and let her enjoy her own.
Some bad mouths didn’t refrain from commenting upon the age difference between Turner and Bach but come on; we’ve read this story before with Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Demi Moore, and Ashton Kutcher (in defense to the bride being older than the groom scenario) and the more recent Scarlett Johansson pairing up with Sean Penn. When it comes to celebrities (and regular people, for that matter), the age difference isn’t a breaker; other things are. So again, congratulations to the happy couple, and may their love be “River Deep, Mountain High” till death do them part.
