Twitter to launch vanity URLs for Vine users’ profiles on Dec. 20
The land grab starts Friday at 9 a.m. PT for customers with established Twitter accounts, the social network introduced in an e-mail to journalists Wednesday. Twitter will quickly enable Vine users to claim self-importance URLs for their profile pages. All other users of the video-sharing provider will be capable of register for vanity Vine URLs on December 23.
Like Facebook and Google+ before, the Vine vainness URL, which will appear as “vine. co/ (username),” offers the advantages of ease of use and discovery it lets in, the microblogging website said.
“Like your Twitter profile, a vanity URL offers the ability to share profile pages easily,” Twitter mentioned in its email, which said the URLs were non-compulsory but may best be registered by existing Vine customers.
Twitter will robotically reserve vainness profile URLs that suit validated Twitter usernames; however, users must declare the profile URL using registering for it, the social community mentioned.
